Favorite Albums from 2010
This is a quick one, since I'm about to start celebrating New Years. I thought I'd share some of my favorite albums of 2010. Note: most of this falls under Industrial music. I don't expect you to have the same wierd taste, but if you do, first CONGRATULATIONS! Second, you should check these out. Use the Amazon.com widget after the jump to listen to clips of the albums. Mouse over the longs to hear a quick summary/opinion written by me.
Since the widget doesn't show the albums, I'm taking a few extra minutes to break out the albums and my descriptions below:
| Smooth, yet moody. IMHO Massive Attack's best album since Mezzanine |
|
| DWIFH may be a brand-new Industrial group, but they already seem like they have perfected a sound. This album is very listenable to, and addictive--even if you are new to Industrial/EBM. Smooth vocals and instruments, but a still classic Industrial sound. | |
| This is the debut of Trent Reznor's wife. Need I say more? | |
| When Liquid Divine comes out with an album, they never fail to make it super-smooth. This one is a bit deeper than their previous ones, but it is still great for dancing, driving, or just pondering life over a good glass of Port. | |
| Mind.in.a.box takes a departure from his albums telling the epic story of "Agent Black" and instead goes on to explore mixing the sounds of old C64 game songs with modern synthpop. A pretty neat combo, in an evil geek sort of way. | |
| X Marks the Pedwalk hadn't made an album since the late 90's. Then they came back out of nowhere and made this gem. It still has their signature variety between trip hop and hard EBM, but with a slightly more modern, refined sound. Fans of the old stuff will still enjoy this. | |
| "Welcome to Ivardensphere . . . " This is for those who want some hard beats with which to stomp their feet. Very driving, very dark. Do not drive to this unless you like speeding tickets. |
FCC Disclaimer: The above widget and links are of an affiliate nature. If you like what you hear and you buy a track I'll make a tiny bit of cash :) It would make me happy. So happy, in fact, that I might branch out from Industrial music and start listening to some Justin Bieber.
